Abdiel turned 2 months today since there's no day 30 this month.

We woke up to get ready and ate the food that my mom made us the night before.

I'm glad that since Moi deleted a bunch of apps from my phone, it has been running much faster.

We didn't go to the Exchange because we didn't want to risk getting to the pediatric gastroenterologist's office. Plus, the Commissary was going to be closed on Mondays.

We kind of got lost but the lady from the doc's office guided us over the phone. The Torre de Auxilio Mutuo brought back memories of my dad who stayed at the Hospital Auxilio Mutuo when he was alive. Abdiel's appointment was at 1:45 PM but we were there an hour early. This doc, in my opinion, is too laid back. And the nerve of this guy to say that the 100% cotton that Abdiel had on is hot in PR's weather. Surely, he hasn't done his researchs.

Basically, he prescribed some meds and put me on a no soy and no dairy diet and among other foods.

We ate at Church's Chicken before heading back to the West... but got lost! We missed our exit by one lane and ended up in Isla Verde. :(

We stopped by a house close to Victory's shopping center to pick up Michael's tax return and paid $30 that he left us.

Traffic was bad but we finally made it home before 9 PM.

We got tons of fluffy mails. We got the surf board address labels, Gera and Hani's package with the Soffe T-Shirts, Michelle's Medela PISA, Mami's and Papi's (Sophie and the Vanilla Teethers) and 1 out of 3 package from Vitacost.

Today is pay day and I've notice that the pay has gone up.

Diaper Wash Day! (Twice) The first round wasn't clean but I still line dried them.

I woke up early to prepare Moi's food, cooked up some rice with veggies and chick peas, clothesline dried the diapers and headed out to Mayagüez. I went in the Civic. I hadn't driven it for over 6 months and was rusty driving it. I met up with Michael at Church's Chicken parking lot near downtown. I ate a Pechu Pop combo while Michael held Abdiel, then we headed out to Toy's R Us to confirm that I could open the Medela's PISA and still use the warranty, dropped Mico off at his place, and headed out to Sam's Club. I bought some groceries and then headed out back with Abdiel. It sure was a long day.

Fortunately I remembered to pay for our mortgage! The funds were there but forgot to make the payment.

I also bought another Small Undercover Mama but in black.

I received the changing pad and diaper bag from The Diaper Bag Wrangler. The prints are beautiful but apparently the diaper bag doesn't have a waterproof lining. I also got the big Sophie in the mail.

I helped Moi place his duty clothes in the large aqua wet bag. They fit perfectly compacted. :)

I woke up early to take Abdiel to his pediatric appointment. I was waiting outside the office at 8:20 AM. The office didn't open until 8:35 AM. The doctor didn't come in to see Abdiel until almost 10 AM. Abdiel weighed about 11 lbs and over 23 inches. He had his penis pulled down. Sniff sniff.

I went in the car again because I didn't know how to take the car seat's base out.
I came home before 10:30 AM. Prepared our breakfasts, I also prepared Moi's breakfast for tomorrow and all his meals.

Moi brought up two boxes. We got the Down Cotton Comforter and a bagful of socks. Apparently, Moi ripped one of the muslin swaddling blankets.

Right after he left, I went to Wal-Mart to return the unopened breast pump that Moi bought and tried to shop for Faded Glory's non-skids socks for Abdiel but they ran out on his size. I carried Abdiel in the Moby Wrap. I met a lady who was in the baby's section with her 6 months old baby girl asleep in the stroller and another elderly man next to her, we talked about how tough it is to be a mom. Before she left, she gave me a kiss in the cheek.

I bought two boxes of a total of 6 space saver, a lingerie mesh bag, a clothespin mesh bag, two cartons of rice milk, a bag of trail mix, and a roll of clear tape.

My MIL came over to help me with Abdiel while I ate, pumped 6 oz of breastmilk using the new Medela PISA pump, taped up 24 newborn and 6 small prefolds along with the Econobum to have it shipped to the mom-to-be.

My MIL took the Infant Summer's Monitor to drop it off at the UPS office.

I'm washing and drying the Down comforter and Moby Wrap. I'm also glad that I got a 10% off coupon from eBay on electronic items and that includes the battery charger and batteries so I bought the package that I've had my eyes on since the other package was canceled due to out of stock.

I've taken the waterproof covers off of Abdiel and he's been airing out in his prefolds but I want to air him out with absolutely no clothes on to see if his crack heals from the rash.

Diaper Wash Day!
Today is President's Day so no fluffy mail. Blah.
I must have fallen asleep that Moi most likely prepared his meals for work.
I set aside 25 newborn and 1 small prefolds and boiled them. Then, I hung them in the clothesline, after a few hours, I put them in the washer and dryer. While they were a little damp, I brought them up and ironed them out.
My in-laws came over at around 4PM and MIL helped me out with Abdiel while I did laundry.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I'm so upset that at around 245 AM I heard a thud and woke up to find out that Abdiel was on the floor! I'm not sure how is it that I was in the center of our King size bed and after Abdiel's nursing session, I placed him on top of my chest to burp him and somewhere along the line, he fell and it was my fault but thank God for sending his mighty angels for protecting Abdiel and didn't seem to get hurt because I checked him and as soon as I picked him up, he stopped crying. He got scared and was loosely swaddled.
Thankfully, the bagful of stuff right next to my night table plus my shirt and workout pant were also on the floor and those items helped create some kind of a cushion.
I really need to stay alert no matter how exhausted I am. It's a very scary experience but so glad that he's fine. Now he's on the far right of the bed close to the wall.
MIL came over to watch Abdiel while I cooked Moi's meals because I was planning on staying over at my inlaw's house.

I finally got ahold of the pediatric gastroenterologist. The appointment is going to be for Monday, Feb 28 at 1:15 PM.

Moi got his other black Nike tennis shoes.

I also bought some stuff from Vitacost.com. Surprisingly, I also got free shipping!

While Moi studied in our room, I washed the dishes. Slowly but got most of it done.

I stayed with Abdiel while hubby got some sleep because he had not gotten any rest.
I bought Abdiel three Sophie teethers from Mami's and Papi's and placed a bid on the big Sophie on eBay.
When I tried to pump, I had Abdiel over my right shoulder. Moi walked into the kitchen at that moment and the pump had quit working so I grabbed an empty bottle and tried to squeeze my engorged breast but Moi told me to put everything as it was and sucked through the tubing and that's how I was able to pump at least 2 oz at a time. Moi even helped me.

Abdiel and I slept in the guest room.

Diaper Wash Day!

I washed 11 NB prefolds, 6 Small Prefolds, Thirsties Pail Liner, some wipes and Large Prefolds using 1.5 TBSP Hard Rock RnG plus a packet of RLR and started the washer on the My Cycle Setting which is (prewash, wash, rinse, extra rinse and spin)
Turned out that there was a lot of sudsing during the rinsing cycles so I re-started the wash using the Cotton Setting on soil and extra rinse to get more water coming through plus I dragged the hose to get some more water through the detergent compartments.
Meanwhile, Michelle's box arrived. She sent me some Lansinoh BM bags, Playtex liners, some links and bibs for Abdiel.
I was also on the phone with her dealing with the Medela Pump issue.

I kept emptying out the bucket that's behind the washing machine because the faucet has a leak.
Once the spin cycle was done, I stopped the washer and brought the prefolds up to boil them and then hung them on the clothesline.

I've been carrying Abdiel with me in the ERGO.

I also cleaned the living room as best as I could.

I placed an offer on eBay for the large Sophie the Giraffe yesterday for $16 and was denied and offered it for $17.50 and the seller accepted the offer today and I paid for it today. The seller for the Medela Harmony Hand Pump never responded to my $15.00 offer so I ended up buying it because it was the cheapest with shipping and handling.

Diaper Wash Day!

Orange, yellow, brown, wipes, and GroVia soakers.
I cooked oatmeal and eggs for tomorrow because Moi has duty. No fluffy mail today.
Moi came home around 1 PM. He didn't take the test because the testers weren't available.
I texted Xiomi to see if we could stay at her place from Sunday to Monday. We should be there between 6 to 7 PM. She's all for it.

I also texted my MIL to bring some clothesline pins. One of Moi's co-worker checked out the room downstair.
I got a call from Dr. Rosado's office confirming Abdiel's appointment on Monday at 145 PM. Sonia, the lactation consultant, called me to see how things were going. She said that I could introduce the sippy cup to Abdiel at any time. Also, she said that Abdiel could be congested and that's why he's refusing to nurse and/or is beginning to teeth in the upcoming months.

I hung dry Abdiel's diapers. One particular GroVia soaker was really stained but the sun bleached it!
There was a concert at Church so we went.
MIL got a fabulous haircut and had her hair flattened! She also had her nails done. I didn't recognize her!
When we came home. We got ready for bed but I went to the kitchen to eat some cereal and played around on my phone to take up on Sustainablebabyish's wool covers pre-order for new colors that ship in May. :-) I got Galactic in Small, Peacot and Mint in Medium.

We returned to our room to be with Moi again.

Saturday, February 26, 2011

3 AM - I changed Abdiel's diaper and nursed him. Then I went to the kitchen to pump by suctioning on the tubing. Then I  put clean dishes away, prepare Moi's breakfast, meals for work, coffee, etc.
By the time that I was done it was already 530 AM. Moi was waking up to get ready for work and looked very tired.
By the time that I was going out and about with my daily routine, it was almost 9 AM. The mail man came in at around 10:30 AM and brought 4 fluffy mail! Two from Vitacost, the Medela Harmony Manual Pump, and 9 pack of assorted Scunci hair ties. I gifted three packs to Xiomi for her birthday.
My MIL came over in the late afternoon to help me watch Abdiel while I prepped the recycling stuff, in between feeding and diaper changing, I finally was able to do some laundry, then leave the house to drop the recycling stuff while she took Abdiel out for a sun tan.
We gave Abdiel a bath in the guest bathroom's shower. Put Abdiel to sleep in the swing. MIL helped me sweep while I cleaned out the refrigerator. I gave her some oatmeal cookies to take with her along with some a dozen of egg, cartons of Indulac milk, some sturdy boxes, etc.
I took a shower while MIL watched Abdiel. Moi called to see if everything was okay.
After she left, I heated up my mixed rice, veggies, and chicken, ate it and continued working around the house. Mico called and texted me to ask me for a favor to pick up some papers for him on Monday.
Later, my in-laws came to pick us up to go to a Juventud Presbiteriana Noroeste in Quebradillas. Yolandita and other youth got nominated as leaders. There was a concert going on too.
We went in the 4Runner. My FIL drove and stopped by a Total gas station. I got off to charge $40 on the card. Gas was like 83 cents per liter! It went up!
Abdiel had been crying along the way. I sat in the back seat next to him to calm his cries but it took a while.
Nina held Abdiel for a while then MIL too. I changed and nursed Abdiel.
As soon as we came home. MIL stayed downstairs as FIL helped me bring Abdiel up.
I tried to calm Abdiel down to go to sleep. I fed then swaddled him. I sang and swung him until he started dozing off. We went to sleep just before midnight. I am exhausted!

Diaper Wash Day!

Moi came home from duty at around 9 AM. Moi left home at 1130 PM to meet with Christian to go surfing at the Wilderness. I stayed home to pack Abdiel's and my stuff before our trip. Moi came home by 330 PM. He was famished so he ate what his mom made on Friday rice, beans, and chicken.
I ate millet cereal but before leaving, I made a shake.
We left by 6 PM but Moi mistakenly to a wrong turn to the West so he had to turn around. We stopped by my grandparent's. Mico left a red envelope on behalf grandma's in San Francisco. Then we stopped by my mom's work. She prepared us food. Then we headed toward Guaynabo to our friends house.

Xiomi liked her assorted color Scunci's :)

Monday, Feb 14 - Sunday, Feb 20

Monday, February 14, 2011

I woke up to get Abdiel and my stuff ready for my OB/GYN post-partum appointment. MIL made scrambled egg and I ate right before leaving the house to keep me feeling fuller for a longer period of time. Between Añasco and Mayagüuez, there was traffic due to an accident of some sort that I didn't get to see but assumed because I saw several ambulances and police cars pass by. Abdiel had cried all the way to the public parking lot.
I changed and nursed him before heading out to my appointment. I made it at around 11 AM, I was in and out in no time but Abdiel started crying so I nursed him right inside where the secretary's desk was. I had a Pap done and should be getting my results in two week.

Michael and I met up at Western Plaza. I ordered a Steak Chalupa Combo without the dairies and citric (tomato) and after changing Abdiel and nursing him, we headed back to Isabela.

It started raining a little bit on our way home. I was dozing off behind the wheel. Fortunately, my hubby's SIL called and saved me by ringing my phone and that woke me up.

Michael hung onto Abdiel for me while I got a break to move around the house. I sent him off with frozen tubs of food.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

I had a good scare because the day before pay day, the pending post usually appears on our USAA account but it didn't this time. Plus, the pay posted around or after 10 AM.

Moi left early to go to work because today was the big exam. I did some laundry in the morning. I also got my ouchless hair ties in the mail. I grabbed a few for my MIL.

I finally found the chart of things that I should and shouldn't eat that Abdiel's ped gave me a while ago.
I called the pediatric gastroenterologist using the number on the paper and finally was able to reach the office. I was told that the doc doesn't take Tricare. I'm amazed... Tricare referred to that doc, gave me the wrong number and also turns out that this doc is not in the Tricare network. Way to go, Tricare.

Before 2PM, I was already at Boriquen's Clinic thinking that I was going to see Eric, the Tricare Coordinator, but he was off today. I wanted to get a hematocrit done for the WIC but since my appointment is this Friday, I wasn't going to be able to get my results before then. I went to Lab Ramey and paid $6 to get it done. The nice lady at the front desk helped me watch Abdiel, who was in the SUV, from the office's glassed door.

I stopped by my in-laws and Moi came by later to eat. As we headed home, I went home and he went to Wal-Mart to get some stuff for Abdiel. He bought a mirror that will allow us to see him from the back and also got him a a device that gets nasal mucus out of our little one.

Moi placed a bid on two Nike Shoes and I bought 30 pairs of socks for him on eBay.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Diaper Wash Day! I'm going to have a mix of GroVia snap-in soaker pads, prefolds, pail liner, and wetbag.
Abdiel has been fussing a lot so I brought him out of our room so Moi could get some rest. I finally opened the nail clipper that Yamira gifted Abdiel when I was pregnant. I cut his nails without a problem. He was sleeping after nursing him.

I helped prepped Moi's overnight meal before he rushed out to go to work by 11 AM. Two men drove into our driveway. Turns out the driver is the owner of Liftmaster who put together the front gate and garage's door. He meant to look for Manuel but since he's no longer here, we could take advantage of the service. Turns out, Moi had closed the front gate but never actually closed so it's open for now. To get another remote control for the doors, the cost is $38 per control.

I've made the mistake of purchasing three King size comforter sets in 100% polyester! I regret making those purchases because Moi likes to use the comforter to cover up and the outer polyester fabric is... rough. Plus, I read that it needs to be DRY CLEANED. UGH. Very pretty designs but comfort and wash-ability is not for us. I'm still waiting for another box to arrive, the third one.
I'm going to use the one that I opened for our guest room and the unopened ones up for sale.

Abdiel pooed twice yesterday but today... he really let it all out in all liquid almost like a bleeding consistency.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Abdiel turns 7 weeks today.

I was about to pull my hair out because Abdiel had been a fussy baby. I dragged the third comforter that I bought from eBay up the stairs. I'm not even opening it. I'll do my best to sell them in PR or put it back on eBay because I bought too many of them.

Moi came home after 2PM. By evening, I bought the downloadable eBook of "The Happiest Baby On The Block" and didn't get to finish it but we sort of tried it out with Abdiel, especially Moi, and it seemed to work. I want to get the DVD.

Friday, February 18, 2011

I visited the WIC for my evaluation with Abdiel at 10 AM. Apparently he measured 22.5" and weighed about 11 lbs with his GroVia diaper and clothes on. He's growing accordingly to the growth chart. Thankfully I qualified once the WIC only took the base pay into consideration.

I carried him in the Ergo. I swung by the fritter's kiosk right across the police station. I got a chicken and beef empanadilla for me because I was starving. Then I stopped by the USPS office to get some flat rate boxes. I returned to the kiosk to get a relleno de papa and a sorullito for Moi. I returned to WIC to pick up my checks and also my 16 GB flash drive that I left at the nurse's office and before heading home, I stopped by the WIC's store to cash the checks that expires tomorrow and also exchanged an expired bag of cereal. The lady tried to weigh the batatas the best that she could but I ended up getting more because it's hard to get the right amount unless you chop some parts here and there.

Finally, I headed home.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

Diaper Wash Day! I had never gone this long without washing diapers. Yesterday I was out and about
La Tierra Prometida with Abdiel to buy some vegetables and bread. Then I stopped by Walgreens to take advantage of their $7.99 promotion photo package. I gave my MIL some photos and kept others. It was a pain dealing with Abdiel who was crying because he was hungry but since the photo specialist was busy taking care of multiple customers, it took longer to get my pictures done. Once I got the pics out of the way, I stopped by my in-laws for maybe half an hour.

Then I stopped by Chencho's to get some fritters. I left Abdiel in the SUV and I watched him from the kiosk but apparently he was crying and the lady who was in front of me asked me if I wanted her to watch him. I said please do. Once I was done, I hopped in the vehicle and sped off and Abdiel calmed down. When I got home, Rosie, Ethan, Vilma and Vilma's mom were there to do laundry.

I helped them wash and dry three loads of clothes.

Vilma and her mom left and it was just Rosie and Ethan.

I managed to cook, take care of Abdiel, and do some laundry.

By the time I finished with Rosie's laundry, I dumped Abdiel's diaper into the washer.

Moi, Abdiel, Rosie, Ethan, and I went to drop them off and afterward, we stopped by Wal Mart to get some carpets because Moi is going to cut them out to put them on top of our sofa to prevent further scratching from the cats. I also got five 100% striped beach towels except for the pink one.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

I took advantage of the 30% sales plus the 50% discount from Diaper Bag Wrangler on a Wet Bag and a changing pad.

I cleared out the bottom kitchen cabinets and organized the Rubbermaid containers.

We headed out to Church. Mayleen handmade three beautiful burp cloths.

Diaper Wash Day!

I worked tidying up the kitchen. I ate some dry millet cereal with rice milk with an added spoon of Boku Super Food; it wasn't bad.

I also made us breakfast. I was also able to use the Crock Pot slow cooker for the first time. I dumped some cooked boneless chicken thighs, sliced onions, carrots and some pepper an salt.
Buddha Bunz's 4 wool green dryer balls came in along with the scented lavender vanilla, monkey farts, clothesline fresh, baby powder, mango papaya and oatmeal, milk, and honey.
I'm drying our Glod Bless America blanket with the mango papaya scent. I'm using 4 green and 4 dark pink colored balls. I applied a few drops onto the wool dryer balls.

I sun dried a few of the stained prefolds after washing them by placing a towel on the floor and then the damped prefolds. Awesome! the lightly stained prefold's stains were gone and the heavily stained one faded.
Moi finally put up the clothes line! Yay!
I fell off the stairs today as I was rushing downstairs to check on the diaper's washing cycle. Moi rushed to help me up. Thankfully I wasn't injured. My left arm was a little numb and my right leg almost twisted.
I'm happy that Abdiel is growing and gaining weight quick. I suspect that my breast milk may taste sour.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

I prepared breakfast for Moi and me and prepped his meals because he has duty today. Abdiel bombed his diaper. I used the small prefold and cover on him for that one and he didn't leak outside of the prefold.
He moved our furnitures and swept the floor. I received my Large Imse Vimse and Medium Kissaluvs wool covers with a sample Eucalan Wool wash from Mom's Milk Boutique.

Becky sent us another check for Abdiel.

We left right after 1130 AM. I headed to the WIC's office. I need to go back on the 18th at 10 AM for an evaluation to see if I still qualify for the program.

Afterwards, I dragged the Large and Medium Flat rate boxes to the Post Office with Abdiel in the sling. The postmaster lady was sort of cold and told me that I needed to re-package everything in a different box and asked me if I had tape, since I didn't, she sold me a tape for $3.39. I struggled to re-package the prefolds but I managed to get them done. A lady stopped and asked me if I spoke Spanish. I said yes. She offered to help me and I gladly accepted. She squished the boxes together and I taped the box.

Thank God for people like her. I paid $14.95 for the large and $10.95 for the medium plus 2 booklets of forever stamps and delivery confirmaton (0310 2640 0001 2901 9211 and 0310 2640 0001 2901 9228) for both boxes. Hopefully Cassie should get the boxes this weekend.

I drove Abdiel and me to my in-laws. I managed to relax a little bit while MIL held Abdiel.

Abdiel slept the entire time. He peed just about every hour until he finally mega bombed his diaper that MIL helped wash him down.

We headed home late but made it safely. Abdiel cried on our way home. When I got home, Efraín, our neighbor, called me over the fence. I headed out to his house with Abdiel. He had his grandson, Efraín, bring the a box over to our home. I handed Abdiel over to Lily while I headed back home unload some stuff from the car. Efraín, the grandson, helped me out. When I opened the box, I was surprised to find out that the Coast Guard sent us a boxful of Gerber's items for baby. It was a layette package. That's nice.

I tried to nurse Abdiel and change his diapers since he's been fussing a lot. Once he "fell asleep" I sneaked into the shower and by the time I got out, he was already fussing again.

I tried to eat some rice milk with millet cereal with a spoonful of Boku Super Food and Boku Protein.

I tried to get us in bed to get some sleep.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

This seldom happens but as Abdiel was yawning, I gave him his 'bottle' and began nursing as soon as he closed his mouth. Smooth transition. Abdiel grunted and fussed all night long. I tried to nurse, burp, change his diapers, rock him and everything that I could think of to calm him down.  I'm thinking that he's growth spurting because of the constant nursing as of yesterday. I've also noticed an increased engorgement. We were out of bed by 9 AM although I've been awake throughout the night. Abdiel has been grunting a lot more. I'm thinking that it has to do with my diet again.

Today is Hani's birthday. As soon as she called me, I sang her Happy Birthday. She's headed out to Perú with Alexander tomorrow. I'm going to miss them although we're still many miles away.

I called Tricare 's International SOS to find out about my referral status for an ear and eye doctors but turned out that I took so long in getting back with them that the referrals already expired. I'm going to have to make another appointment to see my PCM to get another referral. This is going to be the third time.

My in-laws came over for a little bit. MIL held onto Abdiel while I worked on Abdiel's referral to the pediatric gastroenterologist with Tricare Int'l SOS.

I'm calling the pediatric's office tomorrow to have them do the request because I haven't been able to get through Tricare's e-mail.

I hung dry the prefolds on the clothesline to get some stains off.

I realized that I made a huge mistake when I finally realized that I forgot to set the detergent compartment for powder. Basically, the diapers never went through a detergent wash!!! I'm washing them again tomorrow. Sheesh. Now I can say that I prewashed the prefolds for over two hours.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Diaper Wash Day! I messed up yesterday by setting up the liquid's detergent compartment and not the powder setting. Duh. I'm re-washing everything again along with the dirty pail from yesterday to today's along with the GroVia snap-in soakers. I hung the prefolds and placed some of them on the glass table along with the snap-in soakers, and cloth pads to give the dryer a break and use nature's own sanitizer and stain remover, the sun. I also ran out of clothesline so I used the hammock. It's been a windy day.

I posted this on my Facebook album:

Good morning, what are you feeding your body this morning? In an attempt at trying a gluten, dairy, wheat, and soy free diet, I blended half a canteloupe, 5 small bananas, one scoop of Boku Super Protein, one scoop of Boku Super Food (hence the green color) and rice milk. Bon appetit! "Remember that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit ;-) "

Abdiel turns 6 weeks today! I'm so happy.

The mailman came out later than usual and it was a different mailman. He gave me a small flat rate box and in it were 4 small covers. Two Bummis Super Brites, one Thirsties, and an Econobum plus a $15 check to cover the shipping of 24 newborn and 6 small prefolds.

The mailman beeped the horn shortly after I walked into the living room. He forgot to give me a HUGE box. They are 2 out of 3 comforters that I ordered on eBay. He helped me bring them up. I offered him some water and a granola bar and thanked him for the help.

I finally dumped all of the assorted Buddha Bunz wool dryer balls in the dryer. Look how beautiful they are.
My in-laws stopped by in the evening. Moi was studying while my MIL snuggled Abdiel up on her lap.

Michael also stopped by to take back Xiomi's cooler, I also served him dinner. Rice with chicken wing and beans that my MIL made. Also, Michael confessed that he's afraid to carry a baby and that Abdiel is the first baby that he holds for a longer period of time. I think that this is a golden moment. Also, my MIL brought over some fine clothings from over 30 years ago that were worn by Moi and his brother when they were a baby. See photo of my brother and Abdiel and the clothing.
Michael left and we agreed to meet on Monday when I go to my follow-up post partum appointment with my OB/GYN in Mayagüez. Perhaps I can spend some time with him while Moi stays home to study.

Friday, February 11, 2011

Abdiel went without a diaper change for about 7 hours. He hadn't peed for a long time and haven't pooped since Wednesday!

I got my third sling in size for "Northen Light" in the mail from Seven Slings. I have been trying to call the pediatric gastroenterologist's office to make an appointment for Abdiel but haven't been able to get through.

Abdiel has been fussing so I'm trying to find ways to calm him down.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Moi had duty so he took off early to work. At around 9 AM a lady called to promote some hotel packages which sounds like a good deal but I told her that I needed to consult it with hubby first. She'll probably be calling me on Tuesday.
I called Saúl because the lady said that he gave her my name and number.
He was going to buy the package also but didn't have the money at that time.
I'm sad because I broke my favorite Snappi- purple color. I'm very happy that I received Cassie's prefold fitted with snaps along with the Oh So Suave flannel 8x8 cloth wipe and some wipe bits from Crow Mountain Crafts. I had Abdiel try the Zaby Baby prefold converted into fitted but there were gaps in the gussets area as well as roomy space in the crotch area which made me think that it's the equivalent of the small sized prefold from GMD. I think that he already outgrew the newborn sized prefolds from GMD except for the selected fews that have an extra inch across the serged area because rise-wise he still fits in them.
MIL came over to help me with Abdiel while I prepped his diaper bag. I decided to use the GroVia one size diapers for the first time. I might use those for when she changes Abdiel. I've only begun to prep six of the snap-in soaker pads but I'll have to prep the remaining six.

I nursed and changed Abdiel's diaper before heading out. MIL drove the 4 Runner and I drove the Tacoma. We stopped by the gas station in the  downtown area because the tank read empty. I put in $40 on the 4 Runner. As I was heading out of the gas station, I almost backed up against a car. How embarrasing.
We headed over to her house. After nursing and changing Abdiel's diaper several time, I headed off to Fresh Mart at around 2:50 PM. I ate some rice with broccoli, lentil soup, potato croquette and coconut horchata. Then I bought two half gallon organic rice milk, pumpkin bread, and millet cereal. I returned in less than an hour but Abdiel was sound asleep and slept for two and half hour because he woke up crying at 5:30 PM. Jailiz had called me to see if I was home but I wasn't so instead, I guided them to our house over the phone. On their next visit, they'll know how to get there.
Abdiel and I went home in the late evening.

Diaper Wash Day!

I've started adding the GroVia diapers into the mix because I set aside the newborn prefolds that I'm sending to Bethany. Sniff Sniff.

Moi brought me some nice clothings and a beautiful card with touching words in it. I was swayed. :)

I worked around the house and finally packed Abdiel's stuff and mine to stay over at my in-laws after the Sunday's service.

Monday, January 31, 2011

I paid $15.95 for my PdaNet membership! The regular price is $23.95 but for a limited time, Android phones gets that price. I sent Denisse (blackberry), Michael (iPhone), and JJ (Android) this announcement.

I cleaned the kitchen and made some oatmeal. I also cooked Alfredo's Chicken Pasta but of course, I can't eat it because of the lactose content of the cheese. We finally received the Snappis and the Udder Nursing Cover Set.

I've pretty much been with Abdiel, nursing, changing, and playing with him. He's been fussing all the way until 1:30 AM. I was able to finish dinner after midnight.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

For the most part, Abdiel has been good throughout the night. He didn't even pee for 4 hour straight and had some minor liquid poo but that was about it.When Moi woke up and took him off my hands, he went to showered Abdiel and that's when he peed but no poo. I pumped a little bit because I felt engorged but not much came out, about 1.5 oz. I need to drink more fluids.

I placed two orders on Boku Super Food via my phone but messed up my order so I'm calling tomorrow to fix it. I'm re-ordering 2 cases of Boku Bars and am ordering Boku Super Protein and the Organic Boku Super Food Family Size Refill. I'm excited to try these organic dairy and gluten free foods. I've also placed them on the 90 day auto ship program. I'm going to need to feed myself better especially with nursing my Abdiel.

I had to run downstairs to get some more prefolds out of the dryer because I didn't have enough in the changing room.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

I'm finally using my one-time paid for membership with PdaNet on our computer for the first time! The computer or Internet is slow but it gets the job done. I've been trying to work on our budget and paying the bills.

I called Boku after 1 PM because customer service opens at 9 AM PST. We, in Puerto Rico, are 4 hours behind during the fall. The guy who was on the phone helped me straighten out my order. I can't wait to receive and try my Super Foods!

Moi saw that I have the SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16 GB Pen Drive and he also wants one so I just bought one for him on eBay.

I'm seriously considering a crock pot to help me cook without me watching the food. I'm trying to get the grocery list together so I can make the trip out to the Commissary on Sunday, if God wills.

I washed and lanolized Abdiel's wool blanket and am not sure if I did it correctly and effectively. I used Abdiel's spa tub. It's awesome and useful because it also has a drain to flush out the water. I'm happy.

Around 9 PM, I was getting ready to put a diaper on Abdiel, he leaked out diarrhea poo. Then he shot milk straight from his nostrils that he got scared and got me worried too! I cleaned him up and put him in the bath tub in our bathroom and bathe him.

I brought up a basket full of prefolds and wipes.

I'm trying to make a huge grocery list for when I go to the Commissary on Sunday with Xiomi. Also, I'm thinking about investing in a crockpot. I think that it will make my life easier when it comes to cooking.

Thursday, February 3, 2011

I wasn't able to do all the stops that I wanted to do today. I changed Abdiel's diaper, nursed him, got dressed, and prepped his diaper bag. I changed his diaper again before heading out. All that took about an hour!
I drove us over to the base's clinic because I needed to find out how to get approval for Abdiel to be seen by a pediatric gastroenterologist but turned that I needed to personally make the phone call to TRICARE International SOS. I snapped a picture of Dr. Stacholy's referral and sent it to them.
Once I got out of the clinic, I nursed and changed Abdiel before heading out to Walgreens in Borinquen Plaza. I dropped off Abdiel's prescription then stopped by the nutrition bars section and bought two Odwalla bars. I stopped by Selectos and bought a 32 oz. organic vanilla rice milk and drank from it.

We stopped by Fresh Mart to eat lunch and spent about $45 on grocery. Then I headed out to Stacholy's office at 2 PM. Moi met with me and carried Abdiel for me.

Stacholy checked on Abdiel and said that he was healthy. She referred him to the lab to make sure that he's not dehydrated.
Moi drove us to Lab Ramey to pick up the urine sample collection bag for Abdiel.
At night, he glued the urine sample bag to Abdiel's pee area. Shortly after, maybe less than 1 hour, he peed into the bag.

Diaper Wash Day!

I soaked the prefolds and wipes with 3 TBSP of Rockin' Green for 30 minutes and then washed using my cycle which is set as prewash, wash, rinse, and extra rinse for a total of 2:18 hrs. I ran this cycle TWICE and did one cotton cycle. Dried them for 1 hour. The prefolds came out stiffer than usual.
The prefolds that were not in the wash soaked in a small bin to compensate for not being in the super mega cycle washes.
We headed out to Ramey Lab at around 630 AM. The lab tech arrived at around 7:10 AM. She poked Abdiel's left forearm. It wasn't too bad drawing 2 tubes of blood sample. He cried but then calmed down even when the needle was still inside of his vein.

I changed Abdiel's diaper before heading out to Walgreens and Moi took off to work.
I waited about half an hour for the store to open at 8 AM. One of the photo specialist helped me print my home-made birth announcement card pictures that didn't turn out how I wanted them to but still worked.
I wanted to take advantage of the 30 (4x6) prints for $3. I printed 30 pics with Moi's account and 30 with mine.

I stopped by the USPS to pick up two flat rate boxes. I need to ship some prefolds to Cassie so she can convert them into fitteds. I also ordered 3 dozens Medium and 1 dozen Large organic prefolds plus three workhorses in size Small, Medium, and Large from GMD.

I ordered another sling from Seven Slings in size 4. This is going to be my 4th sling!

Moi's 16 GB finally arrived!

I didn't do much house chores today. I also ordered a Medium Kissaluvs and an Large Imse Vimse wool cover from Mom's Milk Boutique. I'm taking a plunge into wool covers.

I prepped our guest room as best as I could by changing the sheets and comforter. I also set up Abdiel's changing station in his playard. It's set up nicely.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

I'm shocked that I was so exhausted that  I didn't change Abdiel for over 5 hours after midnight.
When I finally changed his diaper at around 4 AM, his prefold diaper reeked of ammonia for the first time.

I prepared Moi's meals for duty day the best that I could because Moi has overnight duty again.

I've been trying to cram all of the prefolds to have them shipped to Cassie in WI. I was able to cram 26 Small and 1 Newborn Cloth-eez prefolds from GMD in the Large Flat Rate Box ($14.95) and 12 Newborn, 4 Small, and 6 Large prefolds in the Medium Flat Rate Box ($10.95) If calculated on usps.com that if I ship everything in one box, it would cost over $80. Heck no.

My Boku Bars, Organic Boku Super Food Family Size Refill, and Boku Super Protein made its way here! Yipee! I ate one bar. I'm excited to try the rest of the products.

Xiomi, JJ, Abdiel and I headed over to my in-laws. We spent some time with them. Then headed out to Walgreens to print more announcement cards and finally, as we were headed over to Moi's work, turned out that he had to get some sleep so we headed home.

Since we left our two cats and Niuki at home, we were hoping that all of them survived the cats and dog gathering.

Sunday, February 6, 2011

I put Abdiel's spa tub on our bed and he slept there except for when he nursed. He was pretty consistent in waking up every hour to two for nursing and changing diaper.

Moi got home by 830 AM and got on me because the house is a mess, particularly the kitchen. (Grrrrrr)
I just shrugged it off by saying, "I can only do so much" so he frantically cleaned the kitchen and place up. I just want to leave here so I can have some breathing space. I prepared Abdiel's diaper bag and got ready.
Xiomi, JJ, Abdiel, and I left our home by 11 AM. We stopped by Church's Chicken in Arecibo. We were hungry. I ordered a Pechupop combo with fries and a bottle of water.

We arrived at Xiomi's condo at about 1:40 PM. We dropped JJ and Niuki off and my brother met up with us to go to Ft. Buchanan. We didn't have a problem entering the base and even the Exchange. I bought a Crock Pot, a picture frame for Abdiel's picture on the beach and some Pyrex glass containers.
Xiomi bought some stuff and Michael bought a trash can.

We happily walked down the aisle as we headed out to the Commissary. We were greeted with a surprising news. Guests are no longer allowed to visit the Commissary. We were bummed but I had Xiomi write down what she wanted so I could shop as fast as I could. She helped me watch Abdiel while I ran down the aisles with the shopping cart.

For some reason, my USAA card was declined twice so I paid with Banco Popular's debit card. This is the second time that it happens to me. I don't have that problem somewhere else.

Then, Xiomi and Michael stopped by Costco while I nursed Abdiel in the vehicle.

Xiomi, Michael, Abdiel, and I then headed over to Xiomi's condo. We switched over to Michael's car (which belonged to my dad) along with all the stuff in the parking lot. We bid Xiomi and JJ goodbye and headed over to my mom's work. She was so excited to see Abdiel and held him for a little bit. She also cooked us up something for dinner. We were starving. She also made a combo meal for Moi. Then we headed over to their house to transfer all of our groceries and stuff to the Corolla. I've noticed that the house looks better since the home improvements were done but still needs a lot of work. I placed Abdiel on my grandpa's lap. I snapped pictures of my grandparents with Abdiel. So cute.

Once we loaded everything up in the car. We bid my grandparents farewell and headed out to Isabela, our home. Moi helped unload the stuff from the car while I went upstairs to nurse Abdiel who hadn't nursed for about 3 hours and I was already engorged.

I began putting things away while Moi and Abdiel went to our room. Moi needed to get some rest. I was tired too so I did whatever I could.

Diaper Wash Day! I'm puzzled as to why Abdiel's bum crack has worsened to the point of being able to feel the reddish bump. I'm running the diaper through another rinsing cycle without detergent. I would say that I ran the washer for about five hours on this diaper wash load. We'll see how Abdiel will react to the diapers. He was fine after the last wash day so I'm thinking that the constant bum bum wash by Moi has irritated him.
I made breakfast this morning because I got tired of eating cereal with milk all day yesterday except one decent meal.

Today we received Moi's Intercept blue case. Buddha Bunz's Assorted Colors Wool Dryer Balls also arrived which I opened it but only took a peek and placed it on top of one of the bookshelves in the laundry room.
During December I ordered 12 Buddha Bunz's Undyed/Unscented Wool Dryer Balls from Mami's and Papi's.
I also received the batteries that are fit for our weight scale and electrical remote control.

Moi mowed and trimmed the lawn.

MIL came over and brought food. She also spent some time with Abdiel. We left Abdiel with her from 4:30 PMpm to almost 6 PM. Moi washed his bum bum and changed his diaper before heading out and I nursed him for about 10 minutes. We went to check out some sofa at Mueblería Berríos. We believe that we got a bargained couch for $400 plus taxes.

I came home to find out that Abdiel had a wet and blown out diaper that soiled his Bummis Super Brite cover. He wasn't crying when he was on MIL's lap but as soon as I picked him up to check on his diaper he was crying. She washed him up while I changed his diaper and nursed him for about 30 minutes before he passed out sleeping.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

I've been up with Abdiel since after midnight. Diaper check and nursing throughout the night. I do the same throughout the day but my body wants to rest at night!

I managed to go online to check on different comforter sets. I hope that I get all 3 sets.

Around 830 ish Moi came over to the guest's bedroom. I handed Abdiel over to him just so I could prepare breakfast while suntanned Abdiel. I also prepped his lunch bag because he's scheduled for an overnight duty.
Around 10 AM Moi informed me that María the nurse was here! I had forgotten about the appointment but it's okay, I was home. We went over some details regarding myself and Abdiel.

When I heard a beep beep, I was praying that it was the mailman. He brought over several packages. I was happy to receive the Rockin Green Detergent Magnetic Scoop, San Disk 16 GB Flash Drive, Amy's 3 Thirsties Cover plus three size 2 Snappi's, my Transform's sock, and Moi's sander grinder.
Moi was pretty upset that the Pellisima couch that we bought yesterday was being ruined by our cats nails. Although he clipped their nails yesterday, the still managed to ruin the couch. He was angry that it was supposed to be a good material that would withhold against any scratches but I guess that with cats, there are no way around them.
Moi took the laptop to work so I tried to use mine using the WIFI connection from the terraza. I was able to purchase 9 snappis from eBay.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

I didn't receive any packages today. That was surprising. Moi came home from work at around 3 PM.
He picked up Abdiel's labs. One of the results came back positive. We'll see what the doctor has to say tomorrow. Michael, my brother, came by to drop off some vegetables that mom bought for me. He also brought two onesies from Yiaunlipak y Yiaulinmu from The Children's Place. Tunsok and his wife gifted Abdiel $50.

Michael was headed to Mayagüez because this semester, he's going to study at the RUM. He should return tomorrow. I hope that I can find the P90X's DVDs soon because Mimi wants to use them.

Moi re-arranged our bedroom because he wants more space at the entrance of our room. He moved Abdiel's playard to his own room.

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Diaper Wash Day? (I really don't remember if I did wash diapers today or yesterday or when!) Today Abdiel is four weeks old!

I placed three bids and won all three King size comforter set on eBay. Moi also had me buy the Dakine Aeropad and Strap Set (SUV or car roof rack)

MIL came by to pick me up for Abdiel's appointment with Stacholy. His appointment was at 9 AM but I forgot so we were there by 9:30 AM. Today he measured 21.5" and weighed 8 lbs 15 1/2 oz. Stacholy referred me to see a gastroenterologist from Arecibo or the Metropolitan Area because there's something in my diet that's making Abdiel strain so much. I'm doing the exclusion diet... eliminating one source of food every week to see what's causing him to strain. I need to avoid coffee, tea, nuts, dairies, and some other foods. I'm going to avoid dairies starting today. I need to keep a journal so we can pinpoint the issue.

Lizy, Abdiel, and I stopped by the Mac Donald's that was right across the street from the pediatrician's office. I ordered the grilled chicken minus the cheese, bacon and mayo.

Today, I received Mom's Milk Boutique package. Six GroVia Snap-in soaker pads,  50 count biosoakers, one baby's sunscreen and 1 Grovia shell.

Michael stopped by from Mayagüez after 6 PM. I had Moi take care of Abdiel while I juggled with cooking.
I was starving. I was glad that Michael was able to eat with us before heading back out to Bayamón.

Moi was pretty much exhausted. I was too but decided to take on Abdiel so he could get some rest.

Friday, January 28, 2011

I started cooking at around 4 PM and finished by 9 PM. When Moi came home, he took a shower, ate dinner and then placed Abdiel on his lap while he studies for a test. Meanwhile I worked in the kitchen as fast as I could before Abdiel's next feeding. I took a shower and brushed my teeth and brought Abdiel with me to the guest room where we have his diaper changing station set up. Moi was exhausted so he needed rest. His job is very demanding.

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Moi came to check us out at 4 AM. I sent him back to bed. He came back at around 5:40 AM. He was getting ready to go to work. He took Abdiel from me and gave him a shower. After he left for work, I gathered all of the white clothes and washed 6 GroVia snap-in soakers along with the white load.

I received my second set of sling from Seven Slings in size 3 and it's amber colored.

Zuly was supposed to be at our place by 2 PM but she didn't come by until 6 PM? She had some setbacks.

My FIL came by to pick up a dozen of 32 oz Indulac milk for the Fundación de Mujer de F.E.

Zuly helped me take care  of Abdiel and we ended up playing around with him. She bought some socks and a cap from The Children's Place. We had to try it on Abdiel. Doesn't the outfit look cute on him? Hahaha...

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Diaper Wash Day! Abdiel is 1 month old today. I changed Abdiel, fed him, and put him on the Snuggle Wool for his daily sun bath. It was already 945 AM. Moi came back from duty.
Before going out to Mayagüez Mall, I let the washer run on its own. It was already 2 PM. Zuly drove the 4 Runner us there. Moi stayed home to study.
We stopped by Wendy's and ate something. Abdiel let out a huge runny dark brown orange poo. He even soiled the gussets of the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap.
I changed Abdiel's diaper and was hoping that I wouldn't run out of wipes because it was a mess. Then, I nursed him before heading out to the Mall.
First stop was Border's. Zuly had Abdiel take creative pictures in the children's area. We hung out by the Sprint's kiosk and chatted with two guys who helped us with our phone. Also, we stopped by Trade Secret to check out some scalp relief treatment for Zuly. We made a quick stop by the restroom to change Abdiel's diaper and use the bathrooms ourselves.
At some point we stopped by The Children's Place and an artisan's booth. This guy makes some amazing things with woods. Zuly fell in love with this amazing wooden tray in the shape of an apple but he didn't have it there so he's going to make it for $40.
I bought us some pretzel breads. :-) I was hungry.
It was getting dark so we headed out but before that, I nursed Abdiel. Zuly drove us back and I was falling asleep! It was a long drive especially for her since she's coming from Toa Baja.
When we came home, Moi got Abdiel out of the carseat and washed his bum bum and diapered him. I put the diapers and wipes through two drying cycle. Will check on them tomorrow.

Monday, Jan 17- Sunday, Jan 23

Monday, January 17, 2011

Today is Martin Luther's King Day. Moi had the day off because he had duty over the weekend. I checked out Diaper Junction and and bought GroVia One Size Diapers. GroVia One size Diaper Set comes with  one outer shell (or cover) with velcro closure (there are snap closures available somewhere else) and one GroVia Snap-In Soaker (making it a 2-in-1 diaper system)

I bought six sets with different colors and prints. I'm doing this for Moi who has warmed up to the idea of CDing but wants something fast and easy. I hope that we use these sparingly so they'll last through years to come or at least until Abdiel is potty-trained.

With the purchase of $75 or more using coupon code PRIME75, the customer gets a free AIO or AI2 (all-in-one or all-in-two) diaper. I hope that I get another GroVia One Size Diaper.(Update: I got a Happy Heinys one size cloth diaper in teal along with my order on Friday, Jan 21st)

I also purchased a Bummis Swim Diaper with Clown Fish print for $10.85 each.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Moi, Abdiel, and I made it to the Registro Demográfico in Downtown Aguadilla by 7am. By 8am, we found out that the office only accepts 5 registrations in the morning. We had to return by 1pm but we were there by noon. By 2-3pm, Moi registered Abdiel while I nursed him in the waiting area. Now he has his birth certificate and soon enough, he'll receive his social security number in the mail.

Carmel Latte 3 Piece Gift Set includes:
1 Seven™ Carmel Latte pouch sling . Bold contrasting lines of brown and beige. ($48 value)
1 color coordinated pair of Seven™ baby leg warmers!  Brown poka dots on beigh back ground. ($12 value)
1 adult acrylic cuff bracelet with matching Seven™ Carmel Latte fabric sealed inside! ($12 value)
A $72.00 value! Yours today for just $44.00!
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally received this sling in the mail. I really love it!  The leg warmers are kind of big for Abdiel. I went ahead and purchased the Autum Blaze Gift Set in size 3. The Carmel Latte was size 2. I really wanted Northern Lights but it's out of stock until February.

I also purchased a Udder Covers Carson Gift Set for me because the Porter Set is also out of stock until February. I'm nursing so having different ones really come in handy.

Today, I received my CJ's pre-order from Mami's and Papi's
I took Abdiel to his second follow-up appointment with Stacholy. Moi had duty so I took Abdiel by myself. I used the sling to carry him inside the office. She ordered a stool sample because I was concerned that Abdiel was grunting and straining so much. He weighed 8 lbs and 4 oz and measured 21 1/4". After I went home, I got connected to MSN Messenger to chat with Hani and Ale but it only lasted a few minutes.

María the nurse was coming over to our place at 2 PM but I fell asleep and missed her call! She was parked outside of our gate. I felt bad but she understood so she re-scheduled for next week.

I also placed an order with Mom's Milk Boutique. I bought 3  sets of  snap-in soakers for the GroVia shells that I bought from Diaper Junction, plus a baby sunscreen and a box of 50 counts of disposable BioSoakers for when we're out and are unable to wash the diapers. I hope that we use them sparingly because they're not cheap and aren't nearly as good as the cloth diapers but it's a bit better than conventional disposable diapers. With my order of over $75, I'm supposed to get a free GroVia Shell. Hopefully I get one of the snap shells because I bought 6 sets of GroVia shells with soakers in velcro.  (Update: I received the birdie shell with the velcro closure because the one that I wanted was not the free one)
I purchased a Rockin' Green Magnetic Laundry Scoop from Happy Baby Company. I hope that I'll get them soon so I can put back the 1 tsp scoop back into my kitchen cabinet.

Thursday, January 20, 2011

I  treated Abdiel's pink eyes with breast milk and this morning it seemed like his eyes are cleared up! His crack is reddish and I'm going to assume that it's either the cotton wax in the brown prefolds being washed along with the orange prefolds or the load simply needs another extra rinse. I'm going to boil some hot water about a gallon in the main wash and the rinse.

Friday, January 21, 2011

Around 2 AM Abdiel threw up milk. I had to change our sheets. i thought that it was feeding time when in fact he had nursed about 41 minutes prior.
The Schuler's sent us a card and $100 check for Abdiel. Abdiel didn't poo enough to have the parasitology sample sent out to San Juan so the lab tech gave me the cup to fill it as soon as possible during the madrugada before the lab opens again.

 Saturday, January 22, 2011

Moi has overnight duty and took the stool sample from the 6 AM blow out to the Laboratorio Ramey. Thankfully, I received a call back from the lab that the sample was enough to be sent out to San Juan. I didn't receive any packages today but got a check for the witch hazel that I bought in December. Lizy probably got the other check.

Today was diaper wash day. I also did a diaper count on the orange edge prefolds and sure enough, I was able to account for all 48 diapers. I'm parting away 18 diapers out of 48 to a lady who has been contacting me via FB because she's due in April. She also wants 6 yellow edge prefolds which are size small. I have an unopened dozen of the bleached ones.

I was able to prep a dozen of the organic yellow prefolds. I need to prep the remaining two dozens for a total of 36 diapers. Four dozens NB size prefolds worked for us by washing every other day. Hopefully by the time Abdiel fits in the yellow edge prefolds I won't need more than 3 dozens, or else, I could throw in 1/2 dozen from the bleached ones if I end up selling the other 1/2 dozen.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Moi came home before 9 AM from his overnight duty watch. I felt relieved because I really wanted to work on some overdue chores around the house.
While Moi stayed with Abdiel, I proceeded to sweep and mop our room and house with CJ's all purpose cleaner. I also scrubbed our shower, toilet, and bathroom with the Coconut Lime Dream scent. The scent is long lasting. Moi liked it but didn't like the smell of the Lavender EO. I don't think that I liked it either.
I also went through CJ's BUTTer sample again and am liking some scents more than others.
I also cooked some lettuce, onion, tomatoes with some thinly sliced steaks and poured in some leftover beans with tomato sauce and ate it for lunch with white rice.

I bought three boxes of Lansinoh breastmilk storage bag from eBay.

Monday, Jan 10 - Sunday, Jan 16

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

I bought a nursing cover for Rosie from uddercovers.com and am thinking about getting one for me just to have an extra one on hand. I also purchased a sling from sevenslings.com and am hoping that I purchased the correct size (3) for my body type because the one that I bought is too small in size 2 is too small in my opinion and it looks okay but I put it on incorrectly. I was supposed to create a pouch with the sling which I didn't in this picture.

Saturday, January 15, 2011

I purchased 2 Small Bummis Fabulous Wetbags. With my order of $25 or more, I get FREE wetbag. I'm curious as to what I'll get because I don't get to choose the brand, size, color, or print. Whatever that's good works because even if we don't use them to store soiled cloth diapers and wipes, we can use them to store clean diapers, wipes and much more. (Update: I got a Thirsties diaper duffel and love it because the bottom is pretty wide. I received this order on Friday, Jan 21st)

Mami's and Papi's just updated my order placement from December 28th. I pre-ordered a bunch of CJ's products and my items have been shipped. I'll make good use of those products.

Also, I placed an order of the grab bag ($15 with free shipping) of BUTTer through CJ's official site. I received two 4 oz. tube ginger lime and cucumber melon and one 4 oz. jar of lavender & vanilla. I'm going to be trying other scents when my order from Mami's and Papi's arrives. I like the cucumber melon scent.

I'll be using some of CJ's products on Abdiel's bottom and some on my stretch marks.

I'm also waiting on Buddha Bunz's wool dryer balls and re-scenting kits. BBz ran a 2010 year-end sale. I ordered 4 green balls and 12 re-scenting kits. I haven't received any updates yet.

During December, I also bought 3 used Medium Thirsties Cover (Celery, Butter, and Aqua) and 3 Size Two Snappis from Amy (Jennifer's friend) for $25. I should be receiving them soon. I'm good on Newborn covers, next size up is Small and then Medium so I'll have to look into Small covers before Abdiel outgrows the newborn-size covers.

Kristin posted a Buddha Bunz sale of buy 3 get 1 FREE color/unscented wool dryer balls for $30 including shipping. When I contacted her, she had 17 assorted colors wool dryer balls left. I decided to buy all of them. It came out to $7.50 per ball with random colors. I will be able to buy the missing balls. I wish that I had contacted her sooner so I would be able to buy more matching balls.
The total came up to $127.50. I'm going to end up having 33 balls including the green ones from Buddha Bunz's site and the 12 undyed/unscented wool dryer balls that are currently living in our dryer.

I doubt he has a good latch. I try and try and am doing it wrong because he won't open wide enough! Arggh. The pain is excruciating. I need to go to the WIC's consultant soon. I've tried your suggestions and he's being really stubborn. You're right. I'll try the CDing when he's not around.
I'm having a serious problem evacuating. Moi ran out to get mineral oil and milk of magnesia which I took for the first two days at the hospital and evacuated a bit before checking out from the hospital. I drank the mix yesterday and today and still no evacuation. It's very painful because all of the toxic and venom are cooking inside and it's making my healing process a slow one. Multiplying the constipation with grape sizes hemmorrhoids it's not fun plus the inflammation in the surrounding area from the episiotomy and more.

I'm truly having problems with the updates on my phone! I have Gmail synchronized into my Android phone but it's not updating at all! I've been waiting for your e-mail and nothing. Now that I'm on the laptop, lo and behold, all the e-mails are there. GRRR.
I need to take the phone to the Sprint store which is like 30 plus miles away from here to see if I can get it updated.

Nursing is going good! I'm very hopeful! Thanks so much for your support. Thank God that hubby is supportive when it comes to nursing. He even bought a Rocking Chair which I will send you pics later. I was able to nurse him while I was out in the store. People give me looks but I think it's out of curiosity. I bought a used Bebe Au Lait nursing cover and it works great except for it gets hot when he's under the cover.

Abdiel drank from one breast yesterday and was full. I waited to see if he would drink again. Since he didn't, I pumped the full breast and got like 2 oz!!! :) So far, I've only stored 3 oz in the freezer, I need another ounce to store another 3 oz. I'm drinking MilkMaid Tea and it works I guess :)

Today, I would have been 40 weeks. Will post pics soon. I went on eBay and bought a video monitor for Abdiel, 6 pieces of the white membrane for my Medela Pump and a post partum waist belt. I weighed 123 lbs before pregnancy, 131 lbs pre-labor, 118 lbs post partum.

As far as CDing. Hubby doesn't want anything to do with it. He feels sorry that it's so huge on Abdiel. I changed him at least 8 times yesterday. I'm doing the angel wing fold with snappi. It's challenging when he cries because he's hungry but also peed and pooped. I've noticed that after CDing Abdiel, after a while, even if he hadn't peed or pooped, the prefold would feel wet inside. I really think that the prefolds hold more stink than sposies. I doubt that hubby has noticed that YET because I'm the one checking and changing his CDs. It's harder to check on the CD because I have to unsnap the cover, take one side of the snappi off before I can see anything. Hubby doesn't check it because he knows that it's not like a sposies, where he can just pull the gusset out a bit and is able to see poop or pee.

He also knows that I can't stand the sposies!

Oh oh, MIL is here. I'll chime back in later!

I love the burp cloths and wipes. Hubby doesn't particularly like to use it for bathing Abdiel but he folds the burp cloth in 4 and uses it as a pillow for Abdiel, he also uses it as a burp cloth, I use also use it to lay him on it while I nurse him in bed. We use them when we go out. :) They're very handy and cute!!

Moi drove me to my doc's appointment. I've been having weird contractions but am still at 1.5 cm. Doc ordered another NST at the Hospital Perea for this Thursday.

Thursday, December 30, 2011

At 430am I was having a different type of contractions. Very painful and progressive ones. Since my doc's visit on Monday, doc had ordered a NST at the hospital so I was admitted at around 930 AM. I was hoping that I would go home but when doc came to check on me I explained to her what I've been feeling and she checked my cervix. I had dilated to 3cm. She said that I was already in labor mode so I took my clothes off and was given a gown. I wished to walk around and not strapped in bed so the nurses set up a wireless monitor so I could go outside the labor room and also visit hubby who was in the waiting room. Right before I went out, I didn't know that I had been given Pitocin to accelerate my contractions until I asked what was the injection that the nurse had administered into the saline solution bag.
I wish I was consulted first. After walking around with Moi's help I wanted to go back into the labor room to go urinate. Right then, the nurse asked me to hop into bed after I go pee so she could check my cervix. I was still at 3cm. I remained in bed because I felt a lot of pain when all of a sudden, POP! Gushing warm water came out. I didn't see it but felt it and yelled, "My water broke!" The three nurses on staff were laughing. One came over and checked and said, yes, your water broke.
My pain intensified. At that point things happened fast. I was almost crying everytime I had a contraction that I looked like I was trying to bang the bed and bit on my fingers, pulled my hair and I yelled please give me something for the pain! Doc checked my cervix and I was at 8cm. No wonder the pain. One nurse said sure, she gave me an injection on my butt. Doc came over and asked why I had a birt plan in the record. She was mad. She said those things should have been discussed with her before hand and she handed me the paper and said, this is worthless. Grrrrrr.
I then yelled again I want to push!!! She started prepping me and giving me instructions on what to do. I asked for hubby and one nurse escorted him in. I was like he better be here because we paid $100 for him to be with me if I delivered vaginally.
I was pushing wrong because I would at some point let air out, giving up on the push. At some point I pushed hard that my ears popped. Then I heard. Baby's head is crowning! Right there I was wheeled into the actual labor room and was asked to hop from one bed to the other. Doc kept saying that I was very stiff. I had a hard time keeping my knees bent. In between contractions and pushing, I felt a big relief. Something spurted out. It was Abdiel. He was cleaned up and then placed on my chest. The doc was doing stuff down there. I was tired to know what was going on. I know that she did an episiotomy and injected me in different areas to sew me up.
I was up for pushing the placenta which happened when Abdiel was placed on my chest. I cried a little because his face reminded me of my deceased dad. I asked am I up for pushing the placenta? Doc said you already pushed it out. What a relief. Baby was taken away, doc left to fill paperworks, hubby went to admission to pay for the 2 night stay in the private room and I asked to see the placenta, it was ugly.
Then I was wheeled into the pre-labor room where I had shared with other pregnant women earlier. I was wheeled out into a corner. Two pregnant women were facing me and one of the was a filipina lady who was long overdue. This afternoon I found out that she had a C Section done because she was still stuck on 1cm since yesterday and probably before coming in to the hospital. Hubby bumped into her husband and they shared each other's baby pics and hubby said that both were creeped out because our sons look very much alike except for the weight and height. Abdiel weighted 7 lbs 8 oz. Measured 20". The other baby was 8 lbs. 13 oz. Not sure about height.
Sadly, she is in the shared room next to mine and her husband is putting a fight because he wants to stay with her overnight. She doesn't speak Spanish and speaks broken English. When her hubby found out that Moi could stay with me he was like whaaat? I'm sure that if he had known that if room #259 is the only private room and costs $56 per night, he would have taken up for the offer but I'm sure that he didn't know.
I might swing over to check on her. I'm so sore down there.
I could barely walk. I spent 30 minutes trying to pee in the shower but only small drops came out. I was unable to empty out my bladder.

We had a good scare. Abdiel was in the room under a large AC unit. Moi was helping me in the bathroom when we heard a loud thud. The AC's side cap fell off! Abdiel was 12 inches apart from where it fell. Thank God he didn't get the hit. Moi was furious. Moi called the nurse to report the incident.

A guy came in at 3 AM to ask what happened and asked for a written report. Moi wrote every single little discrepancies. Dirty, rusted, and moldy shower, fridge, bed rails, windows etc. He's a very clean person so he sees things that others may not see.
A two page long report in small letter.

Hubby went to get food for him outside of the hospital and Abdiel is sleeping in a plastic bin next to me (not in bed). Moi posted a few pics on FB and tagged me. People have been commenting like nuts.

Today my doc came over to check on me while I was in the shower. I still had a hard time peeing. However, I was doing better in the afternoon. I was able to squat down in pain and peed twice. I'm getting better.

Welcome to 2011!

I'm excited that I've gone from being scared to cloth diaper to fully enjoying it and it's only been less than two weeks since I began CDing. Moi brought up the subject on CDing because had different views when it came to diapering and wiping. I'm a eco-friendly and organic momma that cares for the environment and whatever I can do in my power to take care of God's wonderful creation, I will do my part to limit landfill pile-up and not to mention saving tons of money along the way!

Here's are some pictures of when I boiled and prepped the Cloth-eez (from Green Mountain Diapers) Newborn Orange Prefolds.

Here's a picture of my first order of cloth diapers with accessories and other wanted supplies from Green Mountain Diapers

Cloth Menstrual Pads

In searching and researching cloth diapers, I've come across cloth nursing pads and finally ended up with looking into cloth menstrual pads! I didn't even know there were such items because like most people... I had the icky factor. I purchased my pads from Mom and Me Creations

I'm pretty sure that I've bought more than what I'll ever need. I'm thinking about selling some 3 of the incontinence pads plus 10 out of the 20 nursing pads. I like and use the 10" and 12" in pads but I might sell six out of twelve 10" pads. Since I only have six of the 12" pads, I'm probably keeping them. I'll consider using the liners for my every day use to pair them up with new panties to keep the stains off the middle.
